The collapse of the twin towers produced dust and debris loaded with carcinogens. Researchers from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai hospital found that thousands of people have been diagnosed with or died from cancers or respiratory illnesses related to the 9/11 attack.
A long-term study also found that law enforcement officers in New York City have 50% more cancer diagnoses after 9/11 than they did before the attack. Various groups of people – including but not limited to the list below – were affected.
